Even if the Gospel of Jesus Christ is believed and understood, there is a doorway and a depth to it that is not often known.  It is the key to living the Christian life.

In this 35 minute teaching, the audio covers the importance of Israel in the world, then goes on to state the importance of the scriptural principle of Union Life in Christ, where both Jesus and Paul talk of Oneness of believers with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. After that the stages of the Christian life are mentioned, an essential piece of knowledge to then believe and live out in the form of Fullness of Life in Jesus Christ.

Ever wondered how God captures a man for eternity? From the book of Daniel, here is the incredible story of King Nebuchadnezzar who lived around 600 B.C. so 2600 years ago. He was a ruthless tyrant who God tamed over the period of his life of 68 years. Nebuchadnezzar went through three stages of experience with God, each one getting stronger in faith, out of the adversity that he experienced. In the final stage God had Nebuchadnezzar live 7 years eating grass with oxen, in order that his mind be aligned with God’s perfect will for him. Included as part of the whole story is the author’s life story which also has had three major stages of change under the hand of God. The conclusion is that God NEVER gives up on any person.

If you are still learning how to pray, especially in adversity (as I am) then this study may well provide a few answers. When we are really in impossible situation, such as Habakkuk was, 2600 years ago, then his attitudes in adversity are so commendable, that we can learn from them today. And it all fits with the teachings of Jesus on the “single eye” which has a very special meaning.  It is also compatible with the tree of life and the teachings of Dr Larry Crabb on the new and living way. If you try to gain the blessings of God, rather than the God of the blessing, then you may learn something about the sovereignty of God and how we need to submit to Him in similar ways to Habakkuk, not long before Jerusalem fell in 486 B.C. The time of Habakkuk reminds us of our own times, where the world is approaching the end of the age (not the end of the world as some suggest) and how we must be aware and ready for those times. Jesus Christ said He would return to earth at a time we did not expect. Surprised at all this? So please listen further

Unit 10 The Enigma of Romans 7 – This part four is an additional segment to the original, written in 2009. It is a very short addition, written just to cover a misinterpretation of one Bible on one major part of the study. There was nothing wrong with the original writing but this addition will help understanding.

Is there one NT theme that stands out above all others? Yes I believe there is. It is that God intended that we be one with Him. Jesus spoke about this in John 17 when He prayed to His Father in His High Priestly prayer. He said that just as He and the Father were one, believers would also be on with Him. Paul also said the same thing when he spoke of Christ in us and Christ being our life. Many other scripture are used in this study and it is easily observed that they are all saying the same thing, that God intended that we be one with Him. What a wonder it is that the God who created the universe has stooped down to every believer making it possible for union and unity with Him.

Unit 10 The Enigma of Romans 7 – The Misunderstanding that Blocks Life in the Spirit. Here is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, cleared of the impairments that Romans 7 seems to present. This is a unit of study of some importance, as it focuses on the Gospel as Paul presents it in Romans. In one sense it summarizes many of the other studies located here and explains how a proper understanding of scripture, based on the death and resurrection of Christ, enables us to live in the freedom of the Spirit of Light and Truth, through a correct understanding of what being dead to sin means and how this relates to the flesh being overcome by the Spirit of God.. This study goes into the detail of Paul’s life and his ministry, when all the aspects of his life occurred and how this reconciles all parts of the Gospel in Romans 6. 7 and 8, with the Book of Acts. The PDF file is one 20 page document. The MP3 audio presentation is divided into three parts of 33, 27, and 28 minutes respectively. The single PDF file or all three audio tracks are needed to complete the study – better with both.

This unit of study is dedicated to setting out three major ways in which we in the church seem to ere, possibly bringing on ourselves the chastening of the Lord, which we otherwise might not experience if we were obedient to His word in these deeper things. So this unit of study will encompass three aspects of the Christian life that do seem to be understood and not lived as the Lord would expect of us.

Is there an antidote for some forms of adversity? Or are there means of preventing the worst of adversities from hitting us so hard? Yes there is. Proper abiding in Christ is the only way. We are enabled to live as Christ intended. It is right through the N.T. word. This is a short sermon of 30 minutes without the usual notes that normally accompany studies. It was spontaneously written just prior to Christmas of 2008 out of words from the Lord on experiences in life in recent times. In some ways it is an applicational summary of the previous 7 units of study. In some ways it could be seen as an introduction to all these units. (No PDF file available)

Can the adversities in our life be considered an adventure or are they just an annoyance.? What part does God play in these things and can adversity lead to blessing? That is the essence of this study. Writing on the subject of adversity is quite a daunting task. However, it relates closely to the major theme of this series of studies of living in the fullness of life and spirit that God intended. As the Bible clearly teaches that adversity is a major precursor of that life, we need to understand how it appears to work in relation to the teachings of scripture and the workings of God. However, as a man who has lived and experienced some degree of adversity (although very limited compared with some) I believe I can offer some thoughts on how it all works, even though much will remain in the realm of mystery of how God deals with His special saints, in the process of them becoming like Jesus.

This is a fundamental study to understand and help us live the Christian life through the power and strength of Jesus Christ, proving a road map of the details in scipture. From the basis of the Apostle John providing one description of the three stages, another eight sets of these three stages can be found in the N.T., reflecting all the main doctrines of our life in Christ. The study provides charts of these which are best downloaded and printed off before listening to the study itself. For this study it is virtually essential to download the full text (look for PDF file for Unit 6) because there are diagrams available in the PDF document that will make your listening and understanding far easier.

There are in fact only two natures mentioned in scripture, one derived from Adam and the second from Christ in the new birth.   Because the nature man has is derived from either Adam or Jesus (unsaved and saved) the second important thing to know is that man himself does not have a nature of his own. Once you realize this you will find it to be a tremendous relief. Not knowing this one fact has led to much misunderstanding of the way we live and the ways and means by which we attempt to mature in our walk with God.

This next unit examines the nature of man in relation to God. There may be some surprises here for people who have not heard these things before. At first, it may appear to be quite impossible and even controversial, but please read and or listen and check out the references, so you know for yourself. Many have taught it before me and the Lord has shown me its truth. It is a vital component of seeing how our exact nature depends on our relationship with God, either as believers, or in our former unbelieving state. In this study you will begin to see that man does not have a nature of his own, but only that which is provided by God, the provision depending on the spiritual state of the man. In essence we find that scripture says that if we are believers then we become partakers of His divine nature. If however we do not yet know God, our nature will be as a child of wrath, because we have inherited the nature of Adam after the Fall.

So far in this serious of studies, we have looked at how the mystery in the N.T. that Paul highlights is (after regeneration) the starting point for the believer’s walk with the Spirit of God in faith. There was and is the need to understand this mystery and why Paul was intent on preaching it, but also to see how living out of this mystery is the way in which we can have fullness of life in Christ.

Secondly we saw how Jesus Himself taught this mystery (although not expressed exactly in these words) when He was praying to the Father in John 17. He taught that just as He was in the Father and the Father was in Him, He also would be in believers and that believers would be united with each other through His Spirit.

Thirdly, the challenge then came through the study, “How then shall we live?” This study was broad in scope, taking into account the basics of the Christian walk and the fundamental Biblical principles that life springs out of death and that we only receive from God according to our faith. We also looked at the issues of real commitment to God and the importance of putting Him first amongst all else. The negatives that inhibit the Christian walk were then examined, among them being legalism and idolatry. We then looked at what Paul actually did in relation to the commission God gave him – which was that Paul was made a minister to preach the word of God…..the mystery….which is Christ in you.

Unless we know these things and have that knowledge of them result in the guidance of the Spirit of God in daily life, it is very difficult to see how we can ever expect to live as Christ intended and to fulfill the great commission.

This unit of study picks up on that same theme with an example of Paul’s teaching which explicitly deals with the life of Christ within and how he used to labour in prayer for others until this life of Jesus was formed in them, as it was in Him. The particular verse is in Galations 4:19 which says. “My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, – how I wish I could be with you now and change my tone, because I am perplexed about you!”

Notice the words, “until Christ is formed in you.” Christ formed in us? Yes, that is an explicit statement that says that the life of Christ can be in us. Not only that, but that this forming is a process that occurs over time and in response to prayer, all after the regeneration of the believer.

Can you see the wonder of that? Read on and listen to the Spirit of God as you do.

The issue of maturing in Christ and living as the N.T says is possible puzzles many believers. In some ways this is surprising, because the Bible provides all the foundational truths that are needed. There are many reasons for the puzzlement and maturing. Some of the reasons will be mentioned in this study.

This question about “how shall we live” and “how we can mature” is asked for a number of reasons.

  • Some believers say they don’t know where they are in life and in their Christian walk.
  • Many say now that they are recipients of God’s grace, they expect to live and walk in fullness of faith and Spirit, but don’t know how.
  • Some say they are unaware of God’s leading or His presence.
  • Some say it even more simply. As believers, how can we make our Christian life work better?
  • So, we could ask, what does God expect of us?

This is an introductory look at maturing and enhancing our walk with God and live out from the full teachings of the N.T. It is both an extension on previous studies and an introduction to several further aspects of study. The first of those outlined and explained the nature of The Mystery of the N.T that was revealed to Paul by the Holy Spirit, the exact nature of this mystery, never before having been known by any man, including all the prophets of the O.T. This revelation to Paul did not come about until he was in Arabia for 3 years and spent further time, presumably under the Spirit of God, in further years in Tarsus before he began his ministry with Barnabas from Antioch. The second study clearly showed how the application of this mystery was explained by the Lord Jesus Christ in His High Priestly prayer in John 17. Jesus himself clearly showed that He and His Father were in each other and thus were one and how this unity was the expected outcome for all believers, that they would be included in this divine union. In other parts of scripture, Jesus also mentioned the cost of such discipleship, teachings on this being expanded by Peter and Paul in particular.

The study will also introduce the idea that adversity, sufferings, trials and persecutions are a normal part of the Christian life that is surrendered to God and are a part of God’s process in bringing believers into fullness of life.

This study is going to provide some of the teaching that Jesus himself gave on this matter, recorded in John 17 when Jesus prayed His High Priestly prayer, not that long before His crucifixion. The study will also provide mentions of other scriptures from Paul’s writings that affirm and confirm this fact that Jesus taught, that He Jesus is in the Father, that the Father is in Him, that Jesus lives in us and that in prospect of His prayer for the disciples, that they might live as one, just as the Father and Jesus were one.

In the first study, The Mystery of the New Testament, it was outlined how this mystery is actually considered to be the key to life for every believer, that the life of Jesus Christ actually does reside within each believer and that it is from that life that we live and also relate and minister to others. This one mystery it was noted, was separate and distinct from 7 other mysteries in the N.T. which were mentioned, but were not explained and will not be until they unfold in the end times. This one mystery however, expressed by Paul as “Christ in you” and “Christ, who is our life” was mentioned directly no less than 15 times, each mention adding to the explanation of those terms.

It was noted that this mystery was hidden from all, prophets included, until revealed to the Apostle Paul somewhere between A.D. 38 and A.D. 45. Paul’s writings reveal that not only was this mystery kept hidden by God until that time, but the mystery was said to contain wisdom, have fellowship, be the mystery of the gospel, of Christ, of God and of His will, but also be the mystery among the gentiles.

What did some old saints believe?

● Martin Luther (1483-1546) Monk, theologian, church reformer. He once said:

“It was God’s intention to have a race of Christ’s. Nothing less than this is true holiness and the Gospel in operation. Holiness stands for Christ in you, the fullness of the Holy Spirit, the baptism of the Spirit and identification with Christ in His death and resurrection.”

● C.T Studd (1850-1931) Famous Cricketer and Missionary to China and Africa

Studd prayed, “Lord, You know as well as I do what I want. I want to see Jesus running about in thousands of black bodies and purified hearts. In the Name of Jesus. Amen. Hallelujah!”

How does what Jesus, Paul, Luther and Studd said fit together in scripture and life?

The Christian life either never seems easy, or does not reach the heights expected by those that profess the faith. Those who weigh up their lives against the example of scripture suspect there is something missing from their lives. Christians all realize that Christ is the answer, but do not seem to know how to take full hold of the offering of the NT. Many churches struggle or fall away and many pastors do not know why. But there is an answer to these dilemmas. It has always been there. It is found in the books of the NT and in particular in the writings and experience of Paul. The answer is that God always intended that the life of Jesus Christ should be lived out in the life of every believer.
